The New Hanover County Schools and Cape Fear Community College partnered to implement an early college high school on the north campus of Cape Fear Community College, which opened August 2007.
WECHS is designed to introduce students to a college setting in their freshman year of high school. Students are required to take a rigorous curriculum of honors level and college level courses.
During their four/five years of high school, students will complete all high school requirements for the College/University Preparation pathway and an Associate’s Degree that will be transferable to a four year university/college, tuition free to the student.
Students will not be able to participate on sports teams at a public high school. However, students are encouraged to maintain their involvement in extra-curricular activities that they are currently pursuing in the community.
Transportation will be provided by New Hanover County Schools.
