Engaging Students, Achieving Excellence

2020 NHCS CTE Empowers Student’s Career Awareness Through Virtual Summer Camps

New Hanover County Schools Career and Technical Education along with the College Foundation of North Carolina are partnering together with several businesses to provide students with career exploration opportunities through a virtual camp experience.
From June 22-25, CTE will host three virtual camps, STEM Camp, Construction Camp, and Culinary Camp. Each camp consists of approximately 15 students and 2 instructors.  Students will gain useful information about college readiness information provided by a representative. They will explore careers through lectures, discussions and hands-on experience such as building robots, constructing corn holes and creating farm to table dishes. The day will culminate with virtual tours of local businesses allowing students to interact with diverse professionals who share the same goals.
Some of the local businesses and organizations involved include Wilmington Machinery, GAF, McKim & Creed, Blockade Runner, Sweet n Savory, Wilmington Grill, North Carolina State Ports, and among others.
