Board of Education Interviewing Candidates for New District Superintendent

Members of the New Hanover County Board of Education will be interviewing candidates for the district superintendent position at the end of June. Interviewees have been selected from an initial pool of 41 applicants from 18 states. Interviews by law will be held in closed sessions.

“The Board is excited to be on track to announce the new superintendent in early August,” says Board Chair Lisa Estep. “Our goal throughout this process has been to have the new superintendent in place to ensure a smooth transition from summer into the 2020-21 school year.”
The North Carolina School Boards Association is facilitating the hiring process, which has included input from over 500 community surveys, over 800 staff surveys, and statements from community groups and organizations.
