Bradley Creek Teacher Christy Howe Named Southeast Regional Teacher of the Year

Christy Howe of Bradley Creek Elementary School has been named the Southeast Regional Teacher of the Year by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI). The big news was delivered to Mrs. Howe at a surprise ceremony and reception this afternoon, Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at the school. In attendance were NC Teacher of the Year Freebird McKinney, New Hanover County Board of Education members, New Hanover County Schools (NHCS) Superintendent and Senior Staff, Principal Lauren Kefalonitis and Bradley Creek staff, students and parents, and Mrs. Howe’s family.

This past June, Mrs. Howe was named the New Hanover County Schools’ Teacher of the Year, and was then chosen out of other top teachers from 12 counties in Southeastern North Carolina to be named Regional Teacher of the Year. She will now go on to compete against eight other teachers for the honor of State Teacher of the Year in April 2019.

Mrs. Howe received a spa package, which includes a free massage and facial, from Head to Toe Spa and Salon located in Wilmington. NHCS thanks Head to Toe Salon for this generous donation for our Regional Teacher of the Year.
