New Hanover County Board of Education Family Communications Committee to Host Roundtable Discussion on Title IX


 

WHAT:
The New Hanover County Board of Education Family Communications Committee will host a Roundtable Discussion on Title IX. New Hanover County Schools Title IX Director, Jarelle Lewis will lead the conversation on the foundation of Title IX and how it impacts students, employees, and our community. The event will include a presentation, an opportunity for questions and answers and an optional small group discussion.

ABOUT FAMILY COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE:
The New Hanover County Board of Education Family Communications Committee is a committee comprised of members of the Board of Education, NHCS Public Relations Division, district staff, parents, and community members. Collaboratively the group works to create and implement accountability measures to assure and establish district-wide communications practices and processes for students, parents, and stakeholders. Every other month the committee host a family roundtable discussion to communicate, engage and gather feedback from families within the district.
 
“Our goal is transparency. We want to ensure that we are communicating all information to our families, and provide them the opportunity to ask questions as well as provide feedback on how our communication methods are being received. With regards to Title IX, we hope to answer questions and inform our families on how Title IX impacts them.” stated Board Member Stefanie Adams.
