Public rental of facilities has been discontinued until further notice and NHCS athletic fields remain closed to the public.

Pre Participation Sports (Physical) Exams
Due to COVID19 safety concerns and conflicts, the New Hanover County free Pre Participation Sports (Physical) Exams for the 2020-2021 school year have been postponed indefinitely. In compliance with the guidelines released by the NCHSAA, student athletes who have a valid Pre Participation Sports (Physical) Exam form for the 2019-2020 season will be allowed a one-year extension through the end of the 2020-2021 academic year. This extension applies to any student athlete who has a Pre Participation Sports (Physical) Exam dated on or after 3/1/2019. A student athlete planning to participate in a sport during the 2020-2021 season without a Pre Participation Sports (Physical) Exam dated on or after 3/1/2019 will need to obtain a new Pre Participation Sports (Physical) Exam before they will be allowed to participate.  All student athletes are still required to fill out a new medical history form (page 1 Pre Participation Sports Exam form) prior to participation. Additionally, all other athletic participation forms required by NCHSAA/NHCS still need to be completed as specified prior to sports participation.

Task force members include senior class presidents, senior class advisors and administrators, parents, and public health and safety officials. Both groups will be presenting recommendations to the Board of Education at the May 26 Interim Board Meeting.
