As a part of North Carolina Disabilities Employment Awareness month being observed in October, New Hanover County Schools Transition Advisory Team will hold the 2019 Transition Fair Parent’s Night and Student Transition Fair. These events are a great opportunity for students with disabilities and their parents to come and visit with agencies and community support systems for families of students pre-school through high school. Agencies and employers with information about post-secondary opportunities for individuals with disabilities will be represented at both events. The Parent’s Night will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, beginning at 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. NC. Agencies will be available to speak with students and parents during this time.
The Student Transition Fair will be held on Thursday, October 24th. It will once again include agencies and employers from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The focus of this day will be to help students learn about post-secondary opportunities related to education and employment. Students from Career Readiness Academy Mosley Performance Learning Center, Ashley, Hoggard, Laney, and New Hanover High Schools will be given the opportunity to take part in the Fair during the day. All students and parents are welcome to come by and visit on this day from New Hanover and surrounding counties.
