NHCS Family Communications Committee to Host Roundtable Discussion for Families New to the District

The New Hanover County Board of Education’s Family Communications Committee will host its first Family Roundtable Discussion on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the Board of Education Center, located at 1805 South 13th Street, for families new to New Hanover County Schools.
“Our mission is to listen to input from families about their recent experiences coming into the district.  We want to reflect on our communications to make sure families are getting the information they need so their children can have a successful school year,” explained Board of Education member Stefanie Adams, Chair of the Family Communications Committee.
The committee was recently formed to review and improve methods of engaging families and sharing information about what is going on across the school district, and to gather feedback from the public. The target audience for the first roundtable discussion will be families new to NHCS including parents, family members, and guardians of students in pre-K, kindergarten, students recently promoted to middle school as 6th graders and high school as freshmen, and families recently relocated to New Hanover County.
Guests will have the opportunity to participate in facilitated discussions and ask questions they may have about how to access resources and information that support student learning and personal growth.  
A Spanish interpreter will be available to provide translation assistance if needed.  Dinner will be provided. Participants are asked to RSVP using this google form:
