NHCS' First Multi-cultural Fair to Showcase Music, Dance, and Foods from Different Countries Around the World

Fifteen schools across the district are coming together for the first time to learn and celebrate with a Multi-Cultural Fair that will showcase music, dance, and food. The purpose of the event is to teach, share, and celebrate the people and culture of various countries. A list of participating schools and the countries they will represent is attached. Awards will be presented at the end of the event based on a rubric for each school’s presentations in categories such as Customs and Traditions, Claims to Fame, Visuals, Student Interaction with the Judges, and Creativity.

Cultural dances from Latin America, Africa and the U.S. will be performed. For example, the Cape Fear Swing Society will showcase a famous African-American dance known as the Lindy Hop which was started during the Harlem Renaissance. Several Spanish dance groups are also scheduled to perform. To see what the Lindy Hop looks like, click here:

A variety of food, snacks, and beverages will be provided. All NHCS parents and students are invited and welcome to attend.
