NHCS Students Blossom in NC Azalea Festival’s Art and Writing Contests

The North Carolina Azalea Festival recognized winners of the 2019 Youth Art and High School Writing Contests at a ceremony held recently at Wilmington Christian Academy. More than 500 entries were received in the competition.

New Hanover County Schools recognizes the following students on their winning entries in the contests:

Youth Art Contest, Elementary School (K-2nd) Division
1st place- Jessie Garriott, Cape Fear Academy (2nd grade), “Flower Shower”
2nd place- Nealie Ruttkay, Bradley Creek Elementary (1st grade), “Tea Party”
3rd place- Helena Watkins, Wrightsville Beach (2nd grade), “Azaleaworks”
Honorable Mentions- Ichika Sakamoto, College Park Elementary (2nd grade), “My Favorite Flower”; Mainika Takkallapelli, Cedar Fork Elementary, Morrisville (2nd grade), “Azalea Belle in Her Garden”
