New Hanover County Board of Education Announces Special Board Meetings
- The Board of Education will hold the Special Meeting on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at 4:00 PM in the Board of Education Center, located at 1805 South 13th Street. The purpose of the meeting is for Board members to hold a Closed Session pursuant to NCGS 143-318.11 (a)(1) and (3) to prevent the disclosure of confidential student records under G.S. 115C-402 and to consult with the board’s attorney to preserve the attorney-client privilege. This will be the only agenda item, and the Board may take action.
- The Board of Education will hold a Special Meeting on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at 5:00 PM in the Board of Education Center, located at 1805 South 13th Street. The audience capacity is 170, and the public may view via the district’s NHCS YouTube Channel. The purpose of the meeting is for the Board members to hold the October Interim Board Meeting.
The Board will begin the meeting with a Work Session to review quarterly suspension data and receive updates regarding the Behavior Leadership Foundations. The agenda will also include approval of the meeting minutes and updates to Policy 2310. In addition, the Board will review updates in regards to COVID-19, fingerprinting, and substitute initiatives. The Board will also discuss the North Carolina School Boards Action Center and support for the Leandro case. The Board will consider the November Regular Board Meeting date. During the meeting, the Board will enter into Closed Session pursuant to NCGS 143-318.11 (a)(1), (3), and (6) to consider personnel matters and to maintain the confidentiality of personnel records under N.C.G.S. 115C-319 and -321; to consult with the board’s attorney to preserve attorney-client privileged information, including in the case captioned John Doe v. New Hanover County Board of Education et al., New Hanover County Superior Court Case No. 19-CVS-2745.
The Board may take action related to any item on the agenda.
