New Hanover County Board of Education Approves Administrative Changes

The New Hanover County Board of Education approved the following administrative promotions and appointments for the 2020-2021 school year at its March 2 and March 16 meetings.

Dr. Veronica Edge was appointed the new Supervisor of Student Records. Dr. Edge currently serves as a school counselor at Laney High School. Previously, she served as a school counselor with Cumberland County Schools, Brunswick County Schools, and Bladen County Schools.

Dr. Edge has a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Shaw University, a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Webster University, and a Doctorate of Education in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University.

Mr. Glen Locklear will serve as the Director of Safety/Hearing Board Officer. Mr. Locklear currently serves as the Principal of the J.C. Roe Center.  Previously, he served as an assistant principal and the athletic director at Ashley High School. Before that, he was an athletic director, teacher, and coach at Ragsdale High School in Jamestown, NC; and held other teacher and coach assignments.

Mr. Locklear received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.  He received a Master’s Degree in School Administration from Grand Canyon University.

Mr. Christopher Walker was approved to be the Director of Maintenance. Mr. Walker currently serves as the Director of Facilities Maintenance with the City of South Fulton, Georgia. He was the Director of Facilities and Maintenance with the Salvation Army, Cottonwood Management, and JRK Property Holdings. Mr. Walker has over 19 years of experience in building maintenance and project management and brings a forward-thinking customer-oriented approach.

Mr. Walker built the General Services Department for the 15th largest city in Georgia. He staffed, trained, and implemented policy and procedures for several key divisions within the department. He was the project manager of a $15 million renovation project and has provided technical training and operational procedures for the United States Air Force.

Mr. Walker has completed Industrial Electrical certification, an Associate’s Degree in Applied Technology Computer Information Systems, certification in Light Commercial Residential HVAC systems, and completed the US Air Force Leadership and Management School.
