The following message has been sent to NHCS Families from Dr. Chris Barnes, Superintendent:

"Dear NHCS Families,

We are continuing to keep a close eye on a developing storm in the Atlantic that could impact our area throughout next week. At this time, there are still too many unknowns for us to make firm decisions, but we wanted to share the current plan to enable families to plan ahead.

Our top priority is always the safety of our students and staff, followed closely by maintaining our learning environment whenever possible. Right now, our plan is to come to school on Monday, with a likely early dismissal at 12:00 p.m. for elementary and 1:00 p.m. for middle and high schools, with all after-school activities canceled. We haven’t made a final decision at this time, but this is the most likely scenario.  Of course, it will depend on how the storm develops over the next 24–48 hours.  You will receive a definite answer no later than midday on Sunday.

I also want to be transparent: our school calendar has only 5 remote learning days for the entire year. Since we are only six weeks into the school year, we must use these resources wisely so we have flexibility for future weather events.
We will provide a full update over the weekend through email, phone call, and our district social media platforms. Please watch for that communication as we continue to track this storm.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to keep our students safe while preserving valuable instructional time.

In partnership,

Christopher R. Barnes, Ed.D.
