Bus Driver Incentive Program

To support bus driver recruitment efforts during a nationwide bus driver shortage, New Hanover County Schools is pleased to offer the Bus Driver Referral and Direct Bonus Program.  
 
Candidates hired as permanent school bus drivers are eligible for a one-time direct bonus of $1,000 if they drive an established route and remain in good standing with the district for 120 school days.

Under program guidelines, an NHCS employee may earn a $1,000 referral bonus for referring a candidate who is hired as a permanent yellow school bus driver on an established route and remains employed for 90 school days. In order for the employee to be eligible for the referral bonus, the employee must be in good standing with the district and cannot have direct access to bus application information.
