CTE in Middle School
Middle schoolers start exploring academic and career choices by:
- Taking part in service learning and field trips
- Participating in job shadowing and mentoring opportunities
- Engaging with guest speakers
- Attending career fairs

CTE in High School
High schoolers continue to hone their practical skills and achieve academic excellence by deepening their college and career readiness through:
- School-based enterprises and simulated workplaces
- Internships and pre-apprenticeships
- Work-based learning and industry-connected projects

Through mentorship, hands-on tasks, and real-world challenges, students gain high school credit and professional skills - while businesses help develop their future talent pipeline.

Summer Camps Now Open for Registration - This summer, NHCS CTE is offering hands-on camp experiences designed to help students explore exciting career pathways through engaging, real-world activities.
Career Exploration Camp gives rising 5th and 6th grade students the opportunity to discover careers in areas like culinary arts, agriculture, automotive service, health science, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, and more.
Camp Med allows rising 7th–12th grade students to step into the world of healthcare through immersive medical activities, simulations, and field trips.
Camp Dates: June 15–18 or June 22–25
Location: New Hanover High School
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
