Career Development Opportunities Explore. Plan. Launch.
New Hanover County Schools believes every student deserves a clear path from the classroom to a fulfilling future.
Our Career Development programs help students discover their strengths, build real-world skills, earn college credits, and connect with employers - so they graduate ready for whatever comes next.

Student Leadership
Growth happens beyond the classroom. Career & Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) give students hands-on leadership experience, competitive opportunities, and connections to industry professionals at the local, state, and national levels.
Career Planning
Every student's journey starts with a plan. Through our partnership with Xello, students build personalized Career Development Plans (CDPs) that connect their interests and strengths to future goals, starting as early as 6th grade.
Dual Credit
Why wait until college? NHCS students can earn free college credit while still in high school through Career & College Promise (CCP) and articulation agreements with Cape Fear Community College.
Work-Based Learning
Real experience, real results. Through job shadows, mentorships, and internships, students step into the workplace, apply what they've learned, and build the skills and relationships that employers value most.
