Preschool Application FAQ's
Does the program have a cost?
No. The program is an eligibility based program designed to provide free high-quality educational experiences to enhance school readiness for eligible four year old children.
Once I begin the application, can I start an application and finish later?
No. Once an application has been started, you will not be able to stop and begin again later. If you exit the application before it is completed and submitted, responses will not be saved
What documents do I need to complete the application?
The Child's
·Birth Certificate (Proof of Age)
·Up-to-date immunization record
·Early Childhood Health Assessment ( Within 30 days of the start of school)
·Medicaid Letter (if applicable)
·IEP, IFSP, or Private Therapy Documents (if applicable)
The Family's
·Proof of Residency - (current utility bill with name date and address listed (electric, water, or trash bill), property tax form, lease agreement or mortgage statement. If you live with someone and your name is not on the lease, mortgage statement, property tax form, or current electric bill, please fill out a Residency Affidavit and submit it with the owner's Proof of Residency. This document must be notarized in order to be considered valid.
·2025 Gross Income Verification (Tax 1040, W2, 1099, Child Support, Supplemental Security Income Letter, TANF) or 1 month worth of Paystubs. If you are unemployed, please fill out a Wage Verification Form (Wage Verification Google Form).
·Parent/Guardian Picture ID (must be government issued)
·Public Assistance Award Letters or Cards (if applicable) - SNAP/EBT, Supplemental Security Income, TANF/WORK FIRST, WIC.
·Parent Acknowledgment Form - Google Form
After submitting an application, what are the next steps?
Our Early Childhood Education Department will be in touch via telephone and/or email. Our staff will be in touch to review your application, collect any additional documentation, and to schedule your child’s educational screening to complete the application process. If you change your phone number or email, please call our office to update your contact information at 910-254-4173.
If I do not have documents at the time I complete the application, can I still apply?
Yes. You may still submit an application without uploading documents, but your application will be incomplete. Applications will not be processed until all documents have been submitted.
How can I check the status of my application?
You can check on the status of your application by contacting the Early Childhood Education Department via telephone or email.
