One of the pillars of Title I, Part A is its requirement that a significant effort is placed on including parents and families in their child’s education and for schools to provide information on how parents can be active participants in the educational process.
Districts and schools receiving Title I, Part A funds are required to develop and parent involvement policy. New Hanover County School’s Parent Involvement Policy can be found HERE. Each Title I school also has its own parent involvement plan and this can be found on each school’s website. For a complete list of Title I schools and their webpage, click on the Title I tab above.
If you would like to participate in our Family Engagement roundtable that meets periodically throughout the year to discuss the best ways to involve families and the needs of schools, please complete this FORM. Each of NHCS’ Title I schools hosts many family engagement events throughout the year. We encourage you to visit your school’s website to view their calendar of events to find activities for you and your family! New Hanover County Schools has a robust partnership with the community and we invite you to join us in any of our opportunities. To see the great work that NHCS and its community partners are doing or to learn other ways to be involved in our school system, please visit our Community Partnerships & Engagement page. As part of our effort to ensure that families are kept aware and involved, we encourage you to visit the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction’s School Report Card page which will give you detailed information on your school’s student performance and academic growth, school and student characteristics, and other details.
