Bus Stop Eligibility:
Students 1.5 miles outside the safe walking distance of their assigned school are eligible. Students who attend an out-of-district school, such as Open Choice schools, are not eligible. Exceptions, such as special route transportation, must be approved by the Transportation Department. Students must ride the bus at least three times per week to remain eligible for bus transportation.

How to Get a Bus
To request a bus stop, contact your school's main office. Students are assigned to a community stop nearest their home address and must be assigned a bus number before they can ride.

Request Deadlines
Important Note: Bus stops for rising 6th and 9th graders will not roll over into the 2026-2027 school year. First-time bus riders, rising 6th and 9th graders, any student with a new address, riders recently de-assigned, and riders with an alternate stop as an exception must request a bus stop by the deadlines below. All other current bus riders require no action and will automatically roll over into the 2026-2027 school year

New bus stop requests must be made before the deadlines below in order to ride the bus on the first day of school. Late bus stop requests will not be processed until after the first two weeks of school.  School bus transportation will not be available until a Bus Pass is issued to the student.

Following the first two weeks of school, students will be notified of bus assignments by receiving a Bus Pass at the school. Bus requests take 3-5 days to process.

Rider Requirements
Riders must use the bus at least three times per week to remain eligible for bus transportation. Students should be at the bus stop 10 minutes before their scheduled pick-up time and allow time for delays due to traffic. Students may only get on or off at their assigned stop - any exception must first be approved by both the school and Transportation. Failure to follow rider requirements may result in a permanent De-Assignment from the bus. To track the bus, download the NEW Chipmunk Bus Tracking App. See instructions below.

Special Request Permission Forms
Any special request permission forms must be renewed for the 2026-2027 school year.

All pre-Kindergarten students must be met at their stop by a parent/legal guardian or a named designee in advance and in writing or they will be returned to school. Students repeatedly returned to school may be permanently de-assigned from transportation.

All Grade K through 2 students must also be met at the stop by a parent/legal guardian or caregiver. Only K-2 students with a “Bus Stop Drop-Off Permission Form” on file may be left at the stop by themself or with a caregiver. Without this form on file, K through 2nd Grade riders will be returned to school. Students repeatedly returned to school may be permanently de-assigned from transportation.
All special education students are required to be met by a parent/guardian unless approved by the school and Transportation by using the Special Education Afternoon Release Consent Form. Without this form on file, the student will be returned to school.

Permission Forms are valid for the current school year only - families must resubmit every new school year.

HOW TO TRACK YOUR BUS
The best way to track your bus is by downloading the NEW Chipmunk Bus Tracking App. The App provides secure, personalized bus information so you can see your student's bus in real time. It also notifies you of scheduled pickup and drop-off times, as well as any bus substitutions.

Please note: Only student contacts with an email address listed in your student's Infinite Campus account are eligible to enroll.

FAQs
Q: What is the Chipmunk App?
A: Chipmunk will replace the district’s current Edulog Parent Portal bus tracking app. Chipmunk will function similarly to track your school bus. It will tell you where the bus is, when it will arrive at your child’s stop, and provide alerts that may affect your rider.

Q: How does it work?
A: All NHCS school buses are equipped with GPS (Global Positioning System) trackers that locate the position of the bus. Chipmunk mobilizes this information with both a map and ETA information so that you can be prepared for the arrival of the bus. Riders are still expected to be at the morning stop 10 minutes prior to the pick-up time.

Q: How do I sign up?
A:  Once you have a bus stop assigned and registered in Infinite Campus, you can download the Chipmunk App and sign up for an account. Your Infinite Campus email address must match the Chipmunk email to successfully register.

Q: Can I track multiple children under the same Chipmunk account?
A: Yes, Chipmunk supports tracking multiple children under a single parent account. Each child’s route and notifications will be managed separately within the app.

Q: Do I need separate accounts for each child if I want to be notified separately?
A: Chipmunk will send notifications separately for each child, so the same account can be used for your whole family. Everyone’s device can be logged in at once under the same username and password.

Q: Is the information private and secure?
A: Yes. Chipmunk provides a private and secure authentication process that allows only you to access your child’s busing information and alert notifications.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: Chipmunk is free for parents to download and use.

Q: Will Chipmunk automatically update if my child switches to a new bus?
A: Yes. Chipmunk will automatically update bus substitutions and new bus assignments.

Q: Does Chipmunk work with my device?
A: Chipmunk is available on the Google Play Store on Android and the App Store on iOS phones and tablets with an internet connection.
