Accidents & Insurance

Parent-Paid Voluntary Student Accident Insurance

Playgrounds are a place of fun and excitement where children can physically challenge themselves and make new friends, but they also present risks and dangers. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), each year hospital emergency rooms treat more than 200,000 children age fourteen and younger for playground-related injuries. Of those playground injuries, the vast majority occur at schools and day care facilities.
Although reasonable precautions are undertaken by the NHCS, it is inevitable that accidents happen. The NHCS is not automatically responsible for the medical bills of injured students.
Parents do have the option of buying low cost accident insurance for their children. There are a variety of choices in the amount of the coverage and  the prices. The lowest price plan is just $9.00 for the whole school year.

Athletic Insurance

Athletic injury insurance is provided to all Student Athletes, participating in any school sponsored sports, starting in the 7th grade and continuing through the 12th grade. Student athletes are already enrolled in the low option plan.
The insurance provided by the school district is a secondary plan and provides specific benefits outlined on the "Low Option Schedule of Benefits" located below. Being a secondary plan means that this plan would process any remaining medical bills, after any and all applicable health insurance has been exhausted.
Parents do have the option of increasing their child's coverage to either the Middle Option or High Option schedule of benefits, should they desire higher limits of coverage. If you want to increase to a higher benefit option, you will need to follow the enrollment instructions below.  If you choose to remain with the low option plan, no further actions is needed.
