A student who is currently enrolled in an accredited college or university located within the United States;
A parent who currently has a child enrolled as a high school senior located within the United States;

Open Year-Round (11th & 12th) The Constitution Scholarship Deadline Jan. 31- to be eligible to apply for the $2,000 scholarship, you must be an American citizen, age 16 or older, and currently enrolled in public or private high school, homeschool, college/university, or trade school. You must complete the Introduction To The Constitution and Constitution 101 courses. Each course includes online lectures with a final test at the end. If you don’t do well on the test, you are able to re-take until you earn your certificate. There is also a study guide and additional readings available if you choose. Once you receive your Certificate(s) of Completion from Hillsdale College, save the document(s) and upload them with your application

10th Learner Tutoring Mental Health Scholarship - $500 recurring scholarship that’s open to students who either personally face mental health challenges or have been strong advocates for mental health awareness in their communities.

15th Be the Boss Scholarship: $2,000 open to female high school students who want to start their own online business

15th - Gates Scholarship - A highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding, minority, high school seniors from low-income households. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to exceptional student leaders, with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential.

27th QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship - "Are you a low-income high school senior who has excelled academically, but feels that the nation’s best colleges are financially out of reach? The QuestBridge National College Match can be your pathway to a top college. Through this college and scholarship application process, you can apply for free to the nation’s best colleges and be considered for early admission and a full four-year scholarship."

30th Coca-Cola Scholarship - 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship. An achievement-based scholarship awarded to students in their final year of high school. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities.

30th Don’t Text and Drive Scholarship: $1,000 Applicant must complete a short form and share a 140-character statement explaining why they will not text and drive.

30th Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs: $1500 scholarships for trade school, community college or university leading to a career in manufacturing.

30th Big Future Scholarship: $40,000 The Scholarship Program is open to seniors in high school who meet the eligibility requirements. If you are an eligible student, by completing a college planning step using your College Board account, you will automatically earn a chance to win a $500 scholarship and an additional chance to win a $40,000 scholarship.

NC Big 6 Scholarships

These scholarships are premiere opportunities at North Carolina's flagship institutions. They are highly competitive and in many cases require a school nomination. Please reach out to your school's Scholarship Coordinator or counselor for detailed information or assistance applying.

Oct. 1st - UNC Morehead-Cain: Students can be nominated by their high school (spring of junior year) or apply directly through self-nomination.

Oct. 23rd - Davidson Belk Scholar- Students must be nominated by their school's Scholarship Coordinator or a counselor to apply. Only 1-2 nominations per school. Please reach out to jennifer.crudeli@nhcs.net at Ashley/Hoggard or reagan.mauk@nhcs.net at Laney/NHHS. Must complete application for Davidson College by Dec. 15th. (ED deadline is Nov. 15th).

Nov. 1st - NC State The Park Scholarships: Applications for the Park Scholarships program and admission to NC State are both due by 11:59 p.m. ET, November 1 for consideration for the Park Scholarship.

Nov. 1st & 15th - NCA&T and NC Central Cheatham White (1st is nomination deadline, 15th is material deadline) - student must be nominated by a high school administrator (principal, vice-principal, or guidance counselor); alternatively, they may self-nominate. Students must be fully admitted to North Carolina Central University by the Cheatham-White application deadline in order to be considered for this scholarship.

Oct. 15 or Nov. 15th UNC Chapel Hill and Duke Robertson Scholars Leadership Program - Must complete scholarship application with 2 letters of recommendation by either October 15th (early deadline) or November 15th (Regular Deadline). Must complete admissions application for UNC or Duke by regular deadline. If you apply for the Morehead-Cain Scholarship, you cannot apply for the Robertson at UNC but may apply for it at Duke.

14th ISACA Scholarships - The ISACA Foundation (previously known as One In Tech), provides scholarships to students interested in the IT audit, risk, security, assurance and cybersecurity fields. (2nd of 2 deadlines)

28th Chick-fil-A Community Scholars- $25,000 scholarship for students who have shown demonstrated care through community-service in the twelve (12) months prior to application.

29th ScholarshipOwl No Essay Scholarship $50,000 scholarship for 100% completing a profile in ScholarshipOwl; must be at least 16 and enrolled in high school or college/university

30th Overcoming Adversity Through Sports Scholarship $2,000 academic-based scholarship award for student-athletes who have faced challenges head-on and come out stronger. Whether you’re balancing practice with exams, recovering from an injury, or navigating personal hurdles, we want to hear your story of triumph.

30th (9-12) NCWIT Award For Aspirations in Computing $500 Scholarship honoring 9th-12th grade students for their computing-related achievements and interests, and encourages them to pursue their passions.

31st Golden Door Scholarship - (priority deadline Oct. 15) for undocumented students. More than scholarships, GDS is a vibrant and determined community that offers comprehensive support, including career readiness programs, mentorship, and intentional programming, going beyond financial assistance. Applications are read as they come so applying early helps.

31st (9-12) VFW Youth Scholarship - Grades 9-12 are eligible. Prize can be for university/college or vocational school. 1st Place is $35,000. Theme for 2025-26 "How are you showing patriotism and support for our country?"

NOV 1, NOV 15, NOV 30 (nomination deadline, application deadline, document deadline) Belk Scholarship at Davidson College: For nomination, submit a resume and a brief written statement (typed) to the Scholarship Google Classroom at your high school stating how you fit the tenets of The Belk Scholar. (2 student nominees per school: Ashley/Hoggard Scholarship GC; Laney/NHHS Scholarship Google Classroom).

1st Be Bold No-Essay Scholarship rolling monthly deadlines

1st Florin | Roebig Annual Scholarship Essay Contest - invites students to explore current social and legal issues while supporting their educational goals. Essay topic: Equal Voting Rights During Midterm Elections. $750 1st place, $500 2nd place, $250 3rd place. Eligible applicants must be at least 18 and enrolled full-time.

1st NC Teaching Fellows Scholarship: Early Application Deadline

1st Appalachian State University Scholarships (Chancellor’s Scholar and Wilson Scholars Program) Admissions application must be completed by Nov 1st, and scholarship application must be completed by Nov 15th

1st Park Scholarship-NCSU: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, & Character; self nominations only (discontinued school nomination process and Test Optional) Full tuition, BOTH NCSU admissions application AND Park Scholarship application must be completed by Nov. 1

1st North Carolina A&T State University National Alumni Scholarship : Priority deadline. Must complete admissions application by priority deadline of 11/1. These applications will be reviewed for scholarship consideration. 2026-27 National Alumni Scholarship Application will be open Nov 1-Jan 10.

1st Centennial Scholarships-NC State: Wilson College of Textiles within NCSU or (if not textile major) need endorsement between Oct. 1 - Nov. 10. Any student who applies for admission by the Early Action deadline, Nov. 1, and has selected a textiles baccalaureate undergraduate degree program for their first major choice will be endorsed and receive access to the scholarship application. Students who are interested in applying for the Textiles Scholarship Program and have applied for a different degree program outside of the Wilson College of Textiles, must be endorsed. A teacher or counselor can endorse student(s) or students can endorse themselves. All endorsements must be submitted between Oct. 1 – Nov. 10. There is only one application for all scholarships for incoming first-year students. By being endorsed, students are eligible to apply for the Centennial, Textile Pioneer, NCTF Distinguished Merit and Prestige Scholarship.

1st Textile Scholarships - NCSU - students must complete the application for the 11/2 early deadline to be considered and then may self-endorse or request a teacher/counselor endorsement by 11/10. (All students who apply to NC State by the Early Action deadline (Nov. 1) and select a Wilson College of Textiles major as their first choice will automatically receive access to the Textiles first-year scholarship application. All Summer Textile Exploration Program (STEP) and TexTEC attendees who apply for admission by the Early Action deadline, regardless of their selected major, will also receive access. They do not need to submit an endorsement.) Final Scholarship application deadline is in January.

5th (ages 5-25) Stephen J. Brady Stop Hunger Scholarships - $10,000 (5 awards) recognizes students who are tackling hunger in their communities. Applicants should demonstrate creativity, leadership and impact in fighting food insecurity. National scholars receive a $10,000 academic scholarship and a $5,000 grant for their hunger-relief charity.

6th - NCHSSA/Cheersounds Spirit Scholars Award - Applicant must be a college-bound, senior varsity cheerleader at an NCHSAA member high school.

12th Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship: significant financial support, Gross family income less than $95,000, minimum unweighted GPA of 3.5

12th - Elks Most Valuable Student Award - Applicants do not need to be related to a member of the Elks

15th (ages 8–18) Young Artist Award $10,000 scholarship for classical instrumentalists, vocalists, and composers who are full-time elementary, middle, or high school students, and have not yet entered college. **

15th (ages 14-25) 10 Words or Less Scholarship Contest: $1,000 A) Be attending school in the US or Canada in the Fall of 2026. Other criteria apply.

15th Appalachian State 1st Year Scholarships - college admissions deadline Nov. 15; all supplemental materials for specific scholarships submitted by Nov. 30; must complete early application and then the program application

15th Odenza Marketing Group Scholarship - essay contest for students interested in business; Essay Topic "Choose a city located anywhere in the world that you believe would, from a future employment prospective, benefit your career. Explain in under 500 words how spending time in this city would help you become more marketable to a potential employer(s). Clearly identify how it will benefit you. For example, going to Paris may help you if you are interested in Fashion Design. Note that this should not just be stated. You must provide an argument supporting this statement."

20th The Point Foundation Flagship Scholarship empowers LGBTQ+ and ally students who are pursuing undergraduate, graduate, or professional degrees at accredited colleges and universities in the United States by offering financial support, community resources, and professional development.

27th John Lennon Endowed Scholarship- students attending a UNCF member institution and majoring in communications, mass communications, mass media arts, music or performing arts.

30th Alan and Jane Handler Scholarship (nomination due but the application is due 12/1/25 so plan AHEAD) the University of Rochester’s premier scholarship. Qualified candidates are academically high-achieving students with substantial levels of financial need (as demonstrated on their FAFSA and CSS Profile forms) and who have overcome significant obstacles in their lives. Recipients selected on the basis of academic excellence, outstanding potential to be future leaders, and demonstrated mastery of complex challenges. 1st Prime Putt Women in Golf Annual Scholarship - $1,000 students are eligible to apply if they play golf in any capacity, whether as a sport or recreational. To apply, write about why you enjoy playing golf and what challenges you’ve faced as a female golfer.

5th PixelPlex Bi-Annual STEM Scholarship $2000 Scholarship for students interested in a career in a STEM field

7th Clemson University Lyceum Scholars Program

8th Denny's Hungry for Education Scholarship: $2,000 scholarship money to deserving high school and college students and helping bring communities together; 2.5 GPA and essay with additional required elements for submission

9th NC State Elks Association Nursing Scholarship: $1,000 scholarship to a North Carolina High School senior and, if available, participating in a school curriculum that involves health care activities. It is not necessary that the student already be accepted for enrollment in a post high school nursing program but he/she must have made application.

13th (info meeting) Emeralds of Excellence (TBD) - Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Alpha Psi Omega Chapter offers an opportunity for current junior and senior girls. Students will participate in the debutante season with the opportunity to win scholarship awards during their participation. The info session is typically in mid-December.

Opens 15th - SECU People Helping People Scholarship SECU Scholarship - Applicants must be a SECU member or be eligible for membership through a parent/guardian as of the date of submission of application. Please note, you will be required to provide proof of eligibility if you are selected as a recipient. Although the SECU Foundation Scholarship program wishes to recognize academic achievement, the People Helping People Scholarship has a much broader purpose; recognizing leadership, integrity and community involvement. Application Process: Students apply at the school level first. School deadline is in January. For more details, see the email distributed to all seniors from Jennifer Crudeli (AHS & JTH) or Reagan Mauk (NHHS & LHS). Students at specialty high schools should reach out to your counselor for application process information.

15th The Dozoretz National Institute for Mathematics and Applied Sciences (DNIMAS) Scholarship @ Norfolk State University: Test scores (SAT/ACT) are required for this program. FAFSA must be complete by Feb. 1

15th Ronald D. Weiss Scholarship: incoming and existing college and/or graduate school students have an opportunity to win a total of $6,500 in prizes, twice per year. Every Spring and Fall we hold this Essay Contest and award three (3) prizes. Good for students interested in law.

15th Burger King Scholars Program scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $50,000 to high school students and BK employees and their families.

15th Science Ambassador's Scholarship: A full–tuition scholarship for a woman in science, technology, engineering, or math. Funded by Cards Against Humanity.

15th Overachievers Student Grant The 2023 $15,000 G2 Overachievers Student Grant will be awarded by Pilot Pen in recognition of an outstanding student who rises beyond the level of their everyday studies and utilizes their learnings to positively impact the world around them. Entrants for this award will also need to submit 1,000 - 2,000 handwritten words explaining how they or the person they’re nominating make a difference in the world around them and why they deserve to be recognized for these efforts.

18th (4PM EST) Equitable Excellence Scholarship - Equitable Excellence Scholarship® program places an emphasis on empowering students’ future plans so that they can continue to have positive impacts in their community. $5,000 renewable for all 4 years. Up to 200 students will be selected to receive scholarships.

20th (6-12) C-SPAN’s StudentCam Documentary Competition-Competition is open to students in grades 6-12. Student must create a short documentary video on the following theme: America's 250th Anniversary. Exploring the American Story through the Declaration of Independence.

26th LOCAL Red, Black & Love Scholarship Application - For students from New Hanover, Brunswick, and surrounding areas

30th Dr. Juan Andrade Jr. Scholarship for young Hispanic Leaders seeks to recognize Hispanic students who share Dr. Andrade’s lifelong commitment to servant leadership.

31st AFSA High School Senior Scholarship Contest- must read the “Fire Sprinkler Essay” and then take a ten question multiple-choice test.

31st Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship - The Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship is a merit-based program that helps students fulfill their dreams of higher education. The scholarship is named for Gen and Kelly Tanabe, best-selling authors on education, whose generous donations fund this program.

31st Arthur M. & Berdena King Eagle Scout Scholarship - $10,000 – 15 Awards To be eligible a student must: A) Be a high school senior that plans on attending college or university in the Fall of 2026. B) Be an Eagle Scout who is registered in an active unit and has not reached their nineteenth birthday.

Individuals with no current Baptist connection cannot be considered for a scholarship.

31st (11 & 12) Science Buddy Scholarship - for future science students enrolling in college in Fall 2026 with minimum 2.5 GPA. Essay required.

Postmarked! by Dec. 31st Walsh/DiTolla/Spivak Scholarship- The Trustees of the Richard F. Walsh/Alfred W. Di Tolla/Harold P. Spivak Foundation are pleased to offer ten scholarship awards each year. Each winner of a scholarship will receive a total of $10,000 in scholarship funds which will be paid out at $2,500 per year over a four year period. Must be a child of a member in good standing of the IATSE (The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts of the United States, Its Territories, and Canada) - grandchildren are not eligible to apply.

Scholarship funds for tuition are distributed incrementally, with $4,500 distributed in the first year, $5,500 distributed in the second year, and $9,000 distributed in each of the last two years, as long as eligibility requirements are maintained. Recipients engage in teaching-related activities designed to develop and enhance their leadership abilities, commitment to the campus and broader community, and awareness of socio-cultural considerations from the individual to the global scale.

15th Villanova's Presidential Scholarship: As of September 2024, nominations are no longer required. Students interested in applying for the Presidential Scholarship must submit a completed application for admission through Common App by 11:59 (EST) January 15. All applicants to Villanova will be considered for the Presidential Scholarship as part of our application review process. Candidates will be selected by Villanova and invited to apply for this award through their Applicant Status Page in the middle of January for Early Action and Early Decision I applicants and in February for Regular Decision and Early Decision II candidates. The PSP application includes short-answer essays*. The deadline for submission will be included in the candidate's invitation. Finalists will be identified following the application deadline. Although the SECU Foundation Scholarship program wishes to recognize academic achievement, the People Helping People Scholarship has a much broader purpose; recognizing leadership, integrity and community involvement. 24th Breanna Coleman Memorial Nursing Scholarship - $5,000 - 1 Award

To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:

A) Be a high school senior who is a 1st-generation college student who will be pursuing a four-year degree in nursing.

31st - Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Various Scholarships- Multiple opportunities with varying deadlines. In some cases you must be a DAR member or be able to prove eligibility for membership in order to apply. In other cases, the awards are open to anyone. 31st - Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) College Scholarship - NROTC Preparatory Scholarships allow interested high school students, who show great potential via grades, character, and extra-curricular activities but might lack standardized test scores or advanced high school courses, to apply for one-year university, or privately funded scholarships. University NROTC Prep programs are designed to provide students the educational foundation necessary for success in the NROTC program and Navy.

31st The Dream Opportunity Scholarship - We created our Opportunity Scholarship for undocumented students who live in states where they effectively have no access to college – either because they face paying out-of-state tuition or because their state will simply not admit them into its universities.

31st Sparking Ice Flavorful Futures Scholarship - The Flavorful Futures Scholarship is open to high school seniors who are pursuing higher education and using their passion to add flavor in their communities and beyond.

31st Union Plus Scholarship - The Union plus scholarships help union families with the cost of college, with scholarship award ranging from $500 to $4,000.

31st (11th & 12th) The Constitution Scholarship - You must have started and completed the Introduction To The Constitution and Constitution 101 courses. Each FREE course includes online lectures with a final test at the end. If you don’t do well on the test, you are able to re-take until you earn your certificate. There is also a study guide and additional readings available if you choose. Once you receive your Certificate(s) of Completion from Hillsdale College, save the document(s) and upload them with your application. To be eligible to apply for the $2,000 scholarship, you must be an American citizen, age 16 or older, and currently enrolled in public or private high school, homeschool, college/university, or trade school.

31st- N.C. Teaching Fellows Scholarship Program - High school students can receive $33,000 in forgivable loans ($8250 per year for up to four years), if they are willing to commit to teach in STEM or special education in any N.C. public schools. The 5 participating colleges are Elon, Meredith, N.C. State, UNC Chapel Hill, and UNC Charlotte.

1st Civic Local Foundation and Civic Federal Credit Union Scholarship : Each year, Civic proudly awards $5,000 scholarships to 25 Civic members who are graduating high school seniors and are planning to attend a four-year college or university. Application link

1st The Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship : a need-based scholarship to a female high school senior from a recognized minority background who will be pursuing a full-time course of study and has signed a letter of intent play golf at an accredited college or university in the United States. Two $5,000 scholarships will be awarded in 2026.

1st (local) The Cameron Scholarship at The Virginia Military Institute : a merit-based scholarship for young men and women from the city of Wilmington, N.C., New Hanover County, N.C., and surrounding communities who wish to pursue their college education at VMI.

2nd - 4th - ZNEF (Zeta National Educational Foundation) Scholarships - ZNEF Scholarships are designed to relieve the financial burden of students attending eligible accredited colleges or universities. The scholarship process is highly competitive. Most scholarships are one-time, non-renewable scholarships unless otherwise indicated.

2nd Academy of Model Aeronautics Scholarships - multiple scholarships available for high school seniors who compete/participate in AMA model activities

2nd - Elks Legacy Awards Scholarship - Available to children and grandchildren of Elks members

3rd - Jerry McGee Endowed Student Scholarship - Awarded to two senior year high school student-athletes from North Carolina High School Athletic Association member schools each year. This award is unique because it honors both male and female student-athletes who have distinguished themselves by overcoming adversity and returned to excel beyond expectations in their scholastic athletic sport(s).
6th - Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship

8th - Florence Kidder Memorial Scholarship - Honors the memory of the first president of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of North Carolina, Florence Hill Kidder.
13th - Coastal Federation's Coastal Stewardship Award Application - This $1,000 award is open to graduating high school seniors in all of North Carolina’s 20 coastal counties to recognize outstanding stewardship of our coastal environment.

15th - David & Dovetta Wilson Scholarships - Easy! Everyone with a GPA above 2.5 should apply. No essay required.

28th The Dream National Scholarship - The Dream National Scholarship is the “Pell Grant” for highly motivated first generation immigrant students (aka Dreamers) who are eligible to receive in-state tuition in their home state (not applicable if attending a private institution) but still have significant, unmet financial need.

18th- Wilburn Clary Medal - $3,000 Senior student-athlete participating on two (2) or more different varsity, NCHSAA sanctioned athletic teams during their high school career (9th - 12th). Must participate on a varsity athletic team during their senior year.

19th - The Alford Family Golf Scholarship - $1,000 to a senior varsity golf student-athlete participating at an NCHSAA member high school.

20th - Herter O'Neal NC Coop Extension Admin Professional Association (NCCEAPA) Scholarship - $750 awarded to honor the work of Edith Herter and Frences O'Neal, founding members of the NCCEAPA. Targeted toward student pursuing a degree in business or a business-related field.

20th- Wilmington Delta Sigma Theta Sorority - Applications are open for area students who are high school seniors, enrolled in community college, or considered non- traditional students, who are returning to school to further their education. Well-rounded applicants who not only excel in the classroom, but also show leadership, and are service-oriented are encouraged to apply. The application is available here online.

21st - Wilmington Roadrunner Scholarship - ALL eligible seniors are encouraged to apply. We are looking for the heroes of our area high school running teams. Our program is not necessarily designed to reward the fastest runner; school records are not part of our selection criteria BUT, proven leadership and exemplary community involvement are!

NEXTNC - Next NC Scholarship-Students attending a community college will receive at least $3,000.
