NHCS is operating under Plan B AA/BB schedule through the end of the grading period on March 4. Pre-K through grade 5 will transition to Plan A on Monday, March 8, 2021. Grades 6-12 will continue to operate under Plan B AA/BB schedule.
Under Plan A, all elementary students will have the option to choose full-time in-person learning or full-time remote learning. Schools will be contacting parents to verify the attendance option they are choosing for their student.
NHCS families should verify PowerSchool contact information is current to receive Connect 5 phone, email, and text notifications from their schools and the district.

New Hanover County Schools is reviewing the revised pandemic school opening and operations guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control on Feb. 12, 2021.
The CDC provides recommendations for consideration and possible implementation at the state level. The NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) is working closely with the NC Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) in providing NC school districts with protocols for safe operations. Protocol updates will be published in the StrongSchoolsNC Public HealthToolkit K-12. NHCS will continue to follow state requirements and recommendations outlined in the StrongSchoolsNC Toolkit in all schools and facilities and will implement any updates as they become available.
NHCS schools are following the 14 day quarantine period for COVID exposures and quarantines at the direction of New Hanover County Public Health and the NC Dept. of Health and Human Services toolkit. The 14-day quarantine period is not determined by individual schools.
